Ken Mattingly has left us.
-
Piloting a larger course now.
-
Another Apollo man is gone. It's up to us now to ensure he is remembered.
-
Not many of the Moon astronauts left as time goes by, happens to us all. RIP Ken.

One of the heroes of Apollo 13.
As most will know, Ken was involved closely with "Steely Eyed Missile Man" John Aaron in establishing a power up sequence for the CSM after it had been shut down. It wasn't quite like the way they depicted it in the Ron Howard movie - most of the sequence was worked out using slide rules and hand written diagrams and notes on graph paper, but its a fascinating story nonetheless, as told by John Aaron in his interview for the NASA Oral History.

Rather fascinating to say the least.
