Title: Lance Armstrong and the Apollo Hoax (...what?)

Select the second cartoon for (I think) a pretty good mash-up of the two above topics.

This Armstrong has an unfailing ability to shoot himself in the foot for the sake of his massive what-ever-it-takes competitive drive.  There is a much to answer for.

Didn't somebody in his legal team tip him the nod....that maybe...just maybe, confessing his wrong doings on national TV may result in the odd lawsuit or 10 from his old sponsors?

He is the archetypal fallen hero - no excuses whatsoever, everything he's ever accomplished...now in the gutter.

Be grateful.  An American hero falls because he did took substances to improve his performance (which probably all his competitors were too).

We have Jimmy Saville!  Now that's a fallen hero.

"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."  Words to live by Lance, words to live by.

Armstrong's problems stem, in part, from his long standing public insentience that he did not dope.  If he had just kept his mouth shut the situation might have passed on to some other sod who wanted to maintain a lie in public without understanding the ultimate cost.

And suing people who said he did.

Heck, that's how Oscar Wilde ended up serving hard labour a hundred years ago.

Unlike Wilde, Armstrong would probably thrive under harsh labor conditions.  It would be easier than his race training regimen, even without the roids.
