The Artemis Program
bknight:
There were IMO major problems with the heat shield. The ablative material eroded more than ccomputer simulations and id addition areas of the shield completely "broke off" and some of the attachment devices(screws?) were eroded somewhat.

And now I'm reading reports that Boeing has warned staff at a meeting last Friday that Artemis may be cancelled.
Phrases like "sunk cost" and "about time" are sort of floating around in my head.

And of course Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency just happens to know a company that can get us back to the moon for a fraction of the price. What a coincidence.

Do you the Trump administration will reduce NASA funding substantially, or dissolve it completely?

I think any Earth climate science done by NASA (past & present) is almost certainly going to be gone. Any other science that doesn't have clear practical value (Hubble, JWST) is on thin ice. Trump doesn't value science and won't want the government to fund things just for the sake of learning about the universe.
NASA will probably continue to exist, but only to bring glory to dear leader by showing the power of the US.
I wouldn't even count on NASA to do anything about asteroid 2024 YR4 unless it is likely to affect Donald Trump personally somehow. Maybe the rest of the world will have to pay a ransom to get the US to do something about it.
