Think about it? A farm boy with minimal training in piloting an X Wing Fighter, provided with plans from his sister's own terrorist organisation, is able to destroy the galaxy's most powerful space station that is owned by their own father?
-
Stranger things have happened...
-
Suddenly it makes much more sense that the Emperor's personal representative would inexplicably leave the Star at a crucial moment to go after mere fighter pilots, thereby being miraculously spared when it's destroyed. Hmmmm......
-
You doing the CT thing wrong. The thread title should be phrased as a question. "Was the destruction of the Death Star an inside job?" Otherwise people will accuse you of being a crackpot; by just asking questions you come off as willing to change your mind when shown contradictory evidence.

Some questions should be asked of whatever contractor built that exhaust port . . .

I'm an engineer and have all the answers. The Death Star is like a boat, and I have experience of boats because I'm a consultant to the Swiss Navy. I have calculations but you can't see them.

As that actually exists (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_of_Switzerland#Naval_patrol), I'm convinced! ;D

Assuming a few of this type of boat qualifies as a "navy."

Now you have my confidence, please let me explain to you using nothing more than an appeal to common sense why my theory is true...

It's grey and has a gun on it - what more do you want? :D
-
Yeah, that gunner had plenty of time to fire, but he never did.
'Stand By. Stand By.'
What was he waiting for?
What aren't we being told?

I believe it may actually be part of secondary canon that he was a Rebel sympathizer and/or felt horrified remorse after what he did earlier.

Yes, I know. It's in the EU novel Death Star :) I thought it fitted the theme of this topic!

most likely an insurance job. the fighters needed to be scrambled as they would'nt have been covered on the policy.
