HBs is are like London buses. You wait ages for one, then three come along at once.

It does seem that some of them lurk until the activity level picks up.  Then join in. I suppose misery loves company.

I think that one starts, and sends a signal (perhaps through pheromones) to all the others in the herd.

Perhaps it is a shark like feeding frenzy? The smell of the rising ire of "believers" just brings them out.
