... is a pic of Alan Bean holding a sample container, with his fellow astronaut mirrored in the visor.

In discussion on YouTube, someone asks "What about the picture with the third person reflected in the visor?". I ask where this is to be found, and they cite;

http://beforeitsnews.com/contributor/upload/343420/images/moon%20fake%203.jpg

I point out the high-def original at the NASA image library above, and indicate the difference, to which the other says "Your one has been edited and cleaned up"

!!!

(Sorry, just had to vent about this ...)

Someone with a more encyclopedic knowledge of the Apollo photos might be able to work out which photo the third astronaut has been copied from.

It looks to me like the guy in question is carrying loads, so could be Bean or Aldrin as photographed carrying instruments for EASEP/ALSEP.

ETA: But, yes, the versatility of their arguments can be frustrating sometimes.

Some clowns just don't have the sense of humour one would expect from a real clown.  :) That's an extremely poor-quality copy of David Harland's adaption of AS12-49-7278 in the Fun Stuff section at the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal. Directions to it (and hopefully a smidgen of edumacation) for your contact:

**********************

1. Engage sense of humour.
2. Go to the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal
https://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/alsj/frame.html
3. Click on Apollo 12, then Image Library, then search for AS12-49-7278 and read its caption. The first link with the time 133:01:00 will take you to the journal so you can read about everything that happened around the time the picture was taken, and plenty more.
4. On the left-hand MAIN MENU panel, click on the fifth link from the bottom, Fun Stuff.
5. Carefully read and understand the heading and the first paragraph.
6. Have your browser search for "AS12-" without the quote marks.
7. The first two hits, under the date 10 April 2003 (which you can also search for), will give you variations of AS12-49-7281 and AS12-48-7071 by Harald Kucharek. You can view the unadulterated originals by clicking on the links. Don't miss reading the caption.
8. The third hit, under the heading "The Real Secret of Apollo 12", will give you a link to the real copy by David Harland, not the horrible crappy one that you linked. Again, read the caption. Note that in his adaption of AS12-49-7278, it was Harland who cleaned up the big lens flare in the original - not the other way round. He and Harald are allowed to do that in Fun Stuff because they are respected contributors to the ALSJ.

133:01:00 This superb picture shows Al holding the vacuum-sealed Special Environmental Sample Container (SESC). Photographer Pete Conrad has just poured soil into the container. We can see that it is nearly full. The lid is hanging by a cord from the bottom. This photo gives us a good view of the top of Al's Hasselblad camera and the cuff checklist and watch on his left sleeve. Note also that reflections of Pete and the Hand Tool Carrier are visible in Al's visor. Pete took this photo during the stop at Sharp Crater. It is also cited in the comments at 121:31:45. A discussion of the f-stop decal on the top of Al's film magazine follows 132:59:04. Finally, Al's checklist is open to pages 12 and 13 as can be seen in a detail by Harald Kucharek.

Whenever confronted with an adaption of an Apollo picture, it's a good idea to check that it's not already in the Fun Stuff section at the ALSJ.
