Pop-ups
« on: December 21, 2017, 12:20:32 PM »
Slightly off topic, but from time to time, when selecting the 'go to last post of a thread" I get re-directed to an obvious scam site that demand me to call an 800 to prevent my computer from being deactivated to "save the network".  There is an annoying pop up that when closed continues to pop up.  Shutting down IE is the only way to rid the site.
Has anyone else had this experience?
As I indicated it doesn't happen all the time, but it sure is annoying when it happens.

I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, but if it doesn't happen frequently it is hard to be sure.

If anyone else has experienced this please let me know.

Hasn't happened here. Think bknight must have been hit by some malware.
Well, it is like this: The truth doesn't need insults. Insults are the refuge of a darkened mind, a mind that refuses to open and see. Foul language can't outcompete knowledge. And knowledge is the result of education. Education is the result of the wish to know more, not less.

That is a good possibility, but why would it only manifest itself occasionally?

Probably so you don't get so annoyed you start an immediate scan of your computer to eliminate it.

Have you tried accessing the site from another computer to compare?

I'm on a job site currently that lap is at home so any attempt will be delayed.

Yes from three different machines, CRS prevents me from accurately answering.

It appears that I did have a Trojan:
JS:Agent-EDB infection

Got rid of it a couple of days ago and haven't had a reappearance of it.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I'm glad you were able to clear it from your PC.
