Apollo 15 40th anniversary video
« on: May 16, 2013, 12:05:02 PM »
Just "found" this video marking the 40th anniversary of A15....a joy to watch...highly recommended.

Favorite moment is towards the end when Dave Scott thanks Neil Armstrong (who was in the audience)for "saving" them on Gemini 8 by saying, "You did good, boss".

Must admit I got a little misty eyed hearing that.

Which video is that? "Apollo 15 40th anniversary" has quite a few hits. Do you mean the one from NASA TV?

Looking through the ALSJ pictures, I just found this.

That is the LM photographed from a great distance, using the 500mm lens.

Such a tiny thing so far away.

Scott said it was his favorite photo from the mission. It was my desktop at work for year.

When you see that, you realize how alien and inhospitable the moon is. That little spot was the only place with air - in a radius of 382.000 km.

That is pretty much how Scott summed it up why it was his favorite photo! 'That tiny little thing is my only real connection to home.'
