The Straight Dope (on Apollo)
« on: May 16, 2016, 03:03:14 PM »
If you haven't heard already about it, the most knowledgeable person in the world answers any question you might come across on "The Straight Dope", subtitle: "Fighting Ignorance Since 1973 (It's taking longer than we thought)". Of course there's also a section on Apollo:
  • Why did they change the name of Cape Kennedy back to Cape Canaveral?
  • While on the moon, did Neil Armstrong really say, "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky"?
  • If a feather and a hammer are dropped together, won't the hammer hit the ground first?
  • Was the Apollo moon landing a hoax?
  • How many G's does my laundry pull during the spin cycle?
  • How did rocks from Mars end up here on Earth?
  • How do female astronauts menstruate in space?

We always wondered about the last one, secretly, and they delve into most any subject in a scientific way :-)

Because there was already enough named after him.
No.
No.
No.
About 11g give or take during the final spin.
Impacts blasted bits of rock out into space long ago and some rain down rusty terror on us.
Very carefully.

From what I read some suppress them and others do not.  http://www.iflscience.com/space/how-women-can-deal-their-periods-space
