I've been wanting to share this for a while and this seems like a good spot. For those of you not familiar with Cluesforum, it is a collection of incredibly arrogant people all following the cult of personality of the forum's creator 'Simonshack'. Posters, and posts, are heavily policed and anyone who does not toe a narrowly defined and rigidly enforced party line is disposed of very quickly. Threads that contradict their perceived reality are routinely deleted and posts removed.
As far as they are concerned everything is faked by some incoherently specified 'them' for the purposes of something or other, and there is no such thing is pretty much anything. They, and only they, are smart enough to work this out. Everyone else, without exception, is either wrong or in on the scam - whatever the scam is.
A thread I've been following with a great deal of amusement, happily knitting by the guillotine, is this one:
http://www.cluesforum.info/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=720in the past few weeks it has been joined by one poster (NotRappaport) who has displayed a more than competent understanding of astronomy, rocketry and other space matters, but who then spoils it all by declaring at the last moment that "but yeah it's fake". More recently he has turned his attention to the ISS, declaring that it is a real thing in orbit, it's just that there are no astronauts on it and it can't possibly be for what 'they' claim it is.
He has set about proving, very coherently, why it is at the altitude it is and why it is moving at the speed it is. He has even succeeded in taking some photos with relatively crude equipment and showing that it is indeed the shape that everyone says it is. The response of the forum's obergruppenfuhrer and his pack of lapdogs has been predictably snide, sinister and patronising.
I'd start somewhere around page 88, or just work backwards from the end.
If you value your blood pressure I wouldn't explore too much of the rest of the forum. They really are the most offensive self-deluded set of sycophants you'll ever come across.
