Making Butch and Suni part of Crew 9 was a smart, efficient, and fiscally responsible decision... something that you would think Elon Musk, head of DOGE, would appreciate.
You know this, and I know you know this, because anyone with an IQ north of a turnip's knows this, but government isn't
supposed to be efficient, it's supposed to be
accountable, and DOGE is doing it's damndest to destroy any and all accountability for this administration.
They are going to break things so badly that it
cannot be fixed. We're looking at a couple of decades in the wilderness of strongmen and juntas, and when we come out the other side any new Constitution had better include some mandatory trigger clauses, along with a re-think of checks and balances. We can't rely on the honor system, and we can't rely on the American people electing someone with a sense of shame (Mencken may have been an elitist asshole, but he wasn't wrong).
Oh well, I guess 250 years was a good run.
