Chang'e-5T1 returns
« on: October 31, 2014, 10:48:20 PM »
The Chang'e 5T1 test mission successfully landed in Mongolia a few hours ago.

Primarily the test of a sample return capsule for the Chang'e 5 and 6 missions, the fact that the capsule is a scaled down Shenzhou lander, flew a skip entry, and carried biological specimens, also means that it is a test for future crewed missions as well.

A seriously "retro" design. That bullet shape reminds me of the old, old days of illustrations in sci-fi books and movies.
May your skies be clear and your thinking even clearer.

Maybe, but it also looks a lot like the Russian Soyuz, only smaller.

Well, there's a reason why an A380* looks similar to a 747, which looks a lot like a 707, which looks like a DC-8, which looks kinda like a 737, which looks like...

...which looks like a B-47.

Why not, they are great and popular aircraft?  And the A380 is magnificent

The psuedo-sceptics have already started wittering about this.

No stars, when you boost the gamma there is a blocky fringe round the Moon, clearly indicating a shoddy cut and paste...  ::)

Well, it is like this: The truth doesn't need insults. Insults are the refuge of a darkened mind, a mind that refuses to open and see. Foul language can't outcompete knowledge. And knowledge is the result of education. Education is the result of the wish to know more, not less.

Hence the phrase "dark of the sun"?

Those clowns clearly have no idea about JPEG compression routines.

Idiots.....They really see conspiracies and cover ups in everything. I wonder if there is anything that they see or read that makes them think "Yeah, I get that. That happened exactly as expected" or do they get up each morning suspicious that their Mum has swapped their Coco Pops for an inferior brand......

When something different to what they expect crops up why do they jump on the conspiracy train rather than thinking "What can I learn from this and which expectations do I need to change?"

Someone called "Bob Shaw" in the China Space FB group struggles to comprehend why the Earth and Moon can have different phases in the same image and why the Moon is not visible in an image taken earlier when the spacecraft was much closer to Earth.  His explanation is that it's a cut and paste job.

I'm a bit surprised it's taken this long for him to pop up somewhere, given how emotionally invested he'd gotten in his bizarre little theory over at BAUT.

I know I shouldn't expect much in the way of reasoning from him, but I really wonder...just what is it he supposes is illuminating the lunar surface, and how can it do so but fail to work with a concentrator?
