I put up with him insulting the other members of the forum for months, and finally had enough today. Good enough?
Yes.  Better than simply not liking him.  I did not bother reading most of his posts from the Trump thread although I knew he was arguing.  Other posts in different threads seemed reasonable enough.

I have banned cambo for pushing the dangerous conspiracy theory that the COVID-19 virus is not as deadly as it is made out to be, and that it is being hyped up by the government and/or media for political reasons. I will not allow conspiracy theories that could endanger people.

Aww, now there's none left for me shake my head in wonder!

Oh, well, I'm not exactly an avid poster anyways, usually everything that needs to be said, has been.

I mean, perhaps ironically, he was showing textbook conspiracist behaviour--he was constantly moving goalposts, he was accusing us of being blind to the truth, and if he didn't use the word "sheeple," it was definitely on the horizon.

I agree that MBDK's behaviour was very reminiscent of a CT's - goal-post moving, arguing from ignorance, shifting the burdon of proof, hand waving evidence and strawmanning. I have been on the the wrong end of some of it, so I am not surprised to see him getting the chop. It was only a matter of time before he labelled some of us "sheeple".

Add to that his insulting behaviour towards LO - choosing to insult the owner and sole admin of a forum is tantamount to suicide by mod!

If you're not a scientist but you think you've destroyed the foundation of a vast scientific edifice with 10 minutes of Googling, you might want to consider the possibility that you're wrong.

I have banned Pluto666 since it is cambo.

najak has been banned for 14 days for the following reasons:

  • Refusing to defend his claims
  • Ignoring explanations and questions from other members
  • Circumventing moderation by starting new topics inside existing topics
  • Ignoring the moderator when warned

You are very accommodating LO. I'm surprised you tolerated his behavior for as long as you did.

Thanks, Smarkcooky. I try to hold out hope that he will participate in an actual conversation instead of just arrogantly telling us he's smarter than every person on Earth since the Apollo days.

It was inevitable. An unwillingness to listen allied to excessive hubris and arrogance only goes one way.

I think that LO had given ample guidance and warnings. I doubt he will change much, should he return. I fear that a ban may have been one of his goals....then he can crow in whatever echo-chamber he inhabits.

Yeah, but that's fine. Anyone who checks the forum will see the truth.

Najak has been permanently banned. I'm sorry if some of you wanted to drag it out for longer, but it was inevitable. He is never going to accept any information that contradicts his beliefs, so he was just wasting your time. That would be fine (you're free to waste your time if you choose to) if he wasn't also so arrogant about it.

To be clear, I don't care if he believes the Moon landings were faked. What bothers me is the way he just dismisses anything that proves him wrong without any kind of rebuttal... just "that's not viable". He is telling us that there is nothing we can say that will convince him, so there is no point in talking to him.

We live in a time where the incoming President of the United States is threatening American allies and getting chummy with American enemies. Fascism is rising again. The world is literally burning as I type this. There are bigger concerns than whether or not some guy on the internet believes the Moon landings were faked, and frankly I have no interest in dealing with the added stress that people like Najak bring to all of our lives.

There are ways that he could have come here to question reality all he wanted without being so arrogant and dismissive. He even demonstrated that he has that capability on the Stack Exchange website. If he had, I would have welcomed it. Instead he came here and proclaimed himself to be smarter than everyone here and anyone else who has ever studied Apollo or been involved with it directly in some way. If that is how he wants to behave, he can do it elsewhere. There is no shortage of places to spread disinformation nowadays.

Please don't feel you have to extensively justify the ban to any of us here. You were very clear in your posts directly addressing him. In any case, this is a case of 'your house, your rules'.

I share your concern with how his mindset seems to be becoming mainstream these days, though. Over this side of the pond we have GBNews proclaiming 'the truth' with a toothless regulator unable to stop them no matter how often they veer into direct incitement. Personally I found it refreshing to deal with a 'classic' conspiracy theory again! But as I said in my last post, he won't be missed and we'll no doubt have someone just like him along again before too long...

I don't normally pay much attention to the man baby, but I read the BBC piece during lunch and my heart sank. I am putting my money on him being bellicose as his moment of triumph draws near; and it is a lot of tub thumping.

As for the world burning and the Anthropocene mass extinction, that is so depressing. The fires are horrific, and we will see more of the same.

We all knew it was inevitable. It was at trolling levels before the temporary ban.

Initially, yes. If you go read the comment thread now, you'll find he turned on them too and has been handed his head. Najak accused his star respondent of giving him incorrect equations based on nothing more substantial than his inability to work through them and satisfy his errant preconceptions. This was after Najak tried to get his respondent to do all the homework for him. Sound familiar?

It is indeed sad how some people insist they've been banned, suppressed, or persecuted for their "views" when it's more evident that they are simply poorly informed and then subsequently delusional and off-putting about it.

I agree with others here that this was inevitable.

He arrived here with the mindset "I am right, I'm smarter than all these sheeple, everyone else here is wrong, and I'm gonna show them just who's boss"

I warned him this was not like any other forum he's been to, that people here absolutely know what they are talking about, and that if he tried to BS everyone, he would get his arse handed to him...... and he did.... and he didn't like it. The Dunning-Kruger was strong in him!

I would argue that banning was inevitable right from his first few posts.
