Congratulations, Simon, on being born.
I almost envy you. The next 20 years are going to be interesting, no doubt about that.
You will learn to walk and talk, to laugh and play. You will know heartbreak and tragedy, love and joy.
It will be the best of times, it will be the worst of times.
But, in the end, I know there is at least one other person who will love and care for you, guiding you as best she can as you make your first steps, first crawls down the road of life.
To Gillianren, best mum you  could hope for.

"Cheer up!" they said. "It could be worse!" they said.
So I did.
And it was.

...and belated congratulations from me as well.  I haven't been online much the last few days as my new great-nephew and his parents have been visiting.

Hate to spoil the fun, but remember - only 18 years from now, he'll want to borrow your car !

congrats, btw.
Well, it is like this: The truth doesn't need insults. Insults are the refuge of a darkened mind, a mind that refuses to open and see. Foul language can't outcompete knowledge. And knowledge is the result of education. Education is the result of the wish to know more, not less.

I never had a driver's license when I lived at home; Mom refused to pay the extra insurance, so she never had teenaged drivers in the house.  How we'll handle the subject is one of those "under discussion until it actually matters" issues.
